What We Know...

The Bluffton project has evolved since it was first proposed. Plans submitted to the Town in 2024 called for a 15,400-square-foot facility; by the Final Development Plan stage in November 2025, the project had grown to 18,336 square feet on roughly six acres in Westbury Park!

Early architectural plans give us a glimpse of what could be inside, showing two full-size basketball courts plus an additional half-court area, a weight-training area, a mezzanine overlooking the courts, and additional fitness and club spaces. While the plans have evolved and the final interior layout may look a little different, they give a pretty good idea of the scale - and just how basketball-focused this new facility is expected to be.

More Than a Traditional Gym

PickUp USA describes itself as a full-service basketball gym built around organized play, player development and fitness. Its clubs combine dedicated basketball facilities and training programs with many of the amenities you'd expect from a traditional fitness center.

What could the Bluffton location offer?

Bluffton-specific schedules, programs and pricing have not yet been released. However, PickUp USA clubs typically offer:

• Youth Development League programs
• Private basketball training
• Officiated adult pickup games
• Open gym time
• Full- and half-court rentals
• Fitness and strength-training areas

The company advertises free guest passes at its operating clubs, although memberships, programs and court-rental pricing vary by location.

One standout feature is officiated pickup basketball. Rather than the usual “call your own fouls” format, games include referees, scoreboards, timed play, and organized rotations for a more structured, game-like experience.

Court rentals could be another big benefit locally. Other PickUp USA clubs offer courts for team practices, private workouts, training sessions, camps and organized runs, with both one-time and recurring reservations available.

When will PickUp USA Bluffton open?

Early reporting points to a 2027 opening. Construction is underway, but an official opening date has not yet been announced.

As Bluffton continues to grow, so does the demand for more recreation and youth-sports options. PickUp USA brings something different to the area: a facility designed specifically around basketball, rather than basketball being only one activity offered inside a larger recreation center.

For local players, teams, and families, dedicated indoor courts for training, leagues, pickup games, and rentals could be a significant addition - especially in a community where gym space can be difficult to find.
